A Ford Focus electric concept car with a home charging unit on display at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, Jan. 15, 2013.

The average cost of electricity in the US is 12 cents/kWh. Therefore, the averange person driving the average EV 15,000 miles per year pays about $540.00 per year to charge it.
One eGallon is the amount of electricity required to move an an alectric vehicle that same 28.2 mile distance. If you thought gasoline was expensive before, now you're really going to cringe. At a national level , gas -powered cars cost around three times as much per mile as electric vehicles.
